Currently in its 27 season, showrunner Al Jean has confirmed that ‘The Simpsons’ is likely to end in its 30 season.
Show could come to an end after 30 seasons
In an interview, showrunner Al Jean hinted that the long-running cartoon series will be over after its 30th season.
Jean revealed this while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter.
“It's quite possible that we don't have to go through the whole negotiation for 30. I wouldn't be stunned if we stopped at Season 28, but my bet is on at least Season 30.”
“But then you'd have to resign them again. If you made me pick one, I'd say the likeliest is ending after 30.”
Admitting to once being wrong about the show, he said "I thought five seasons was good when I got there."
Currently the longest-running scripted show in television history, 'The Simpsons' has won 31 Emmy Awards, 31 Annie Awards, and was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012
The show which airs on Fox on Sundays, is currently renewed through Season 28.
