Actors join 'The Flash' as Jay Garrick, Patty Spivot

Teddy Sears joins 'The Flash' as Jay Garrick. In the comics, Jay was the original fastest man alive.

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con tonight, DC announced new characters set to appear in season two of CW hit show 'The Flash.'

From Barry Allen's previously teased love interest, to Jay Garrick who in the comics, is the original Flash, created long before Barry Allen took up the mantle.

A new villain who will be faster than the Reverse-flash and The-Flash, was also mentioned.

The first announced character was Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears.

Garrick is described by CW as “a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.”

Also confirmed as the show's villain is Zoom, who will be "faster than Reverse-Flash, faster than the Flash."

It was also announced that Barry's new love interest from the comics, Patty Spivot, will be played by Shantel VanSanten.

According to CW, Spivot is “Patty is obsessed with metahumans and partners with Det. Joe West this season but has no idea that her new crush is The Flash.”

The Flash which ended on a , undefinedon Tuesday, October 6.
