And with a relatively small turnout this weekend, the film fell to 'War Room'. The little-known Christian film won first place with just $12.3 million in ticket sales. Coming in second was Straight Outta Compton with $11.2 million.
Taking a surprising third was the Robert Redford and Nick Nolte movie, A Walk in the Woods, with $10.3 million. Nabbing fourth place was Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation with $9.4 million. And securing fifth was The Transporter Refueled, minus Jason Statham, which took in a haul of $8.7 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were the Owen Wilson dramatic thriller No Escape with box office receipts of $6.8 million to take the number six spot, followed by The Man From U.N.C.L.E. with $4.7 million for seventh place.
The critically-acclaimed Pixar movie Inside Out came in eighth with $4.4 million, while ninth place went to the Spanish-language, animated kids’ movie Gallo Con Muchos Huevos with $4.3 million.
Remaining in the Top 10 was Sinister 2 with $4.2 million.
