Michelle Obama To Host White House Screening Of The 'Trip To Bountiful'

The Obamas are slowly opening the WH doors for black film makers! Not bad!

First Lady Michelle Obama will host a screening of Lifetime's The Trip to Bountiful at the White House’s Eisenhower Office Building’s South Court Auditorium on Monday February 24 as part of Black History Month, officials announced Thursday.

The Trip to Bountiful, which premieres Saturday, March 8, on the cable channel, is set during the final years of the Jim Crow South. It’s a TV adaptation of the Broadway revival of Horton Foote’s play. The Broadway production was nominated for four Tony Awards, winning best actress in a play for Cicely Tyson.

The film and play’s director, Michael Wilson is scheduled to be in attendance, along with Tyson and other cast membersincluding, Vanessa WilliamsBlair Underwood and Keke Palmer.

Reports say the event  will be open to press and will also be live-streamed at http://www.whitehouse.gov//live.
