The American actress took home the award for best actress at the 88th Academy Awards. She was presented this prestigious award by British actor Eddie Redmayne.
Brie Larson wins Best actress for “Room”
Larson was nominated alongside Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Rampling , Jennifer Lawrence and Saoirse Ronan.

In her speech Larson thanked the Academy, the Telluride Film Festival, the “Room” director and crew, as well as her partner and co –star.
"Jacob Tremblay, my partner through this in every way possible – my real partner, Alex Greewald, I love you," the 26 year-old said in her acceptance speech.
She also thanked her fans.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in Room - thank you to all of you who saw it, thank you to the fans, thank you to the moviegoers. Thank you for going to the movie theatre and seeing our films, I appreciate it”.
Larson was nominated alongside Cate Blanchett ("Carol"), Charlotte Rampling ("45 Years"), Jennifer Lawrence ("Joy") and Saoirse Ronan (“Brooklyn").
“Room” is a drama film adapted from a novel with the same name. The film was directed by Lenny Abrahamson and written by Emma Donoghue. The film follows the ordeal of a mother and son who are held hostage for seven years in a shed and the events that follow when they finally regain their freedom.
