The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee (NOSC) has called for Nollywood movies to be selected for the Foreign Language category of the 2016 Oscar Awards.

The call was made by the chairman of NOSC, Chineze Anyaene who announced the acceptance of Nigerian movies for the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

In the words of Anyaene, “What matters to the committee is the selection and submission of works that best represent the country, and not just to be counted among the countries with entries at the Oscars.”

Explaining further, Anyaene said, 'Movies must have been released in Nigeria between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015, and be publicly exhibited for at least seven consecutive days in a commercial motion picture theater, for the profit of the producer and exhibitor.

'In addition, the picture must be advertised and exploited during its theatrical release in a manner considered normal and customary to the industry. The picture need not have been released in the United States,' she concluded.
