According to Variety, the Gus Van Sant directed movie , was met with boos and jeers as audience expressed their disdain over movie which features McConaughey as a man who travels to Japan to kill himself.
According to BBC, the Oscar Award winning actor isn't bothered by the people's reaction to his movie ‘People have as much right to boo as to ovate.’ - the 'Interstellar' actor reportedly said.
'Sea of Trees' also stars Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe, and is in competition for this year's top prize.
