With her emotional cover of Katy Perry's "By the Grace of God," Kechi Okwuchi has moved on to the America's Got Talent semifinals.

"You are important. In these days and ages, people need people like you as an inspiration, and that's what you're doing,"Simon Cowell said to her.
Howie Mandell described the performance as "serendipitous" because Okwuchi lives in Houston, a city currently battling flood as a result of Hurricane Harvey.
Kechi also shared some words of encouragement for everyone affected by the flood.
"I pray that my performance gave them something positive to see," she said.
"I'm not even sure If people in Houston can see this, but I pray that they can and that they feel something positive and they feel strength."
Okwuchi had received a "yes" from each of the four judges after her first performance on the show on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, with her performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”
Kechi made it to the lives with her rendition of Donny Hathaway "Song for You."
On December 10, 2005, Okwuchi became one of the two survivors of the Sosoliso Airline Flight 1145 crash that took the lives of 107 passengers.
The crash occurred 20 minutes to landing on her way back to Port Harcourt for a Christmas holiday with other students from her school, Loyola Jesuit College.
