Plane crash survivor stuns crowd with performance, makes it to America's Got Talent semifinals [video]

With her emotional cover of Katy Perry's "By the Grace of God," Kechi Okwuchi has moved on to the America's Got Talent semifinals.

After her performance, the judges applauded her spirit and talent.

"You are important. In these days and ages, people need people like you as an inspiration, and that's what you're doing,"Simon Cowell said to her.

Howie Mandell described the performance as "serendipitous" because Okwuchi lives in Houston, a city currently battling flood as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

Kechi also shared some words of encouragement for everyone affected by the flood.

"I pray that my performance gave them something positive to see," she said.

"I'm not even sure If people in Houston can see this, but I pray that they can and that they feel something positive and they feel strength."

Kechi made it to the lives with her rendition of Donny Hathaway "Song for You."

On December 10, 2005, Okwuchi became one of the two survivors of the Sosoliso Airline Flight 1145 crash that took the lives of 107 passengers.
