Former 'The Daily Show' host signs 4-year deal with HBO

Jon Stewart will be producing short-form video content for HBO’s digital platforms.

Former Daily Show host, Jon Stewart has signed a four-year deal with HBO to produce topical videos for the network's internet services.

The produced content will be featured on the network's streaming services apps.

“Jon Stewart led a revolution that changed the face of TV comedy on the ‘Daily Show,’” said , HBO’s president of original programming.

“He graced our network nearly 20 years ago, so we’re thrilled to welcome back his immense talents in this next chapter of his career.”

Before he kicked off his tenure on 'Daily Show', Stewart headlined the 1996 HBO comedy special 'Unleavened.'

Speaking on the new deal, Stewart said;

"Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me. I'm pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again."

No official start date has been announced, but according to several reports, the deal will kick off in 2016.

Stewart stepped down as 'The Daily Show' host in August, after 16 years of hosting the nightly satire show.

In March 2015, as a replacement for Stewart.
