Prior to the premiere of Marvel's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', Renner (Hawkeye) and Chris Evans (Captain America), jokingly called the Black Widow character a slut.
The comment was not well received by the internet as fans took to various social media medium to express their displeasure.
Following the backlash, the duo apologised for their comment, “I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone,” - Renner said in a statement released.

In this recent interview with Conan, the actor didn't miss the opportunity to explain himself.
"Mind you, we’re talking about a fictional character and fictional behavior, but, Conan, if you slept with four of the six Avengers, no matter how much fun you had, you’d be a slut. Just saying. I’d be a slut." - he said.
