David Oyelowo's directorial debut, 'The Water Man' is officially a few more steps to completion.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, July 29, Oyelowo updated fans on the progress of the film which he also doubles as lead actor and producer. He shared, "First Look image for my directorial debut THE WATER MAN. COMING SOON!Thanks"
Shot in 2019, the family centered drama written by Emma Needell follows the story of a young boy who runs away from home on a quest to find a mythical entity with magical powers to save his ill mother. It also stars Rosario Dawson, Lonnie Chavis, Amiah Miller, Maria Bello and Alfred Molina.
While a release date is yet to be confirmed, the movie reportedly has Oprah Winfrey on board as its executive producer.
Oyelowo got his big Hollywood break in 2014 when he featured in the Ava DuVernay directed historical drama based on the Martin Luther King Jr. led voting rights protests. Oyelowo's performance as Martin Luther King Jr. earned him a Golden-Globe nomination.
