Following Taraji P Henson's Golden Globes win for her character Cookie, Fox has renewed "Empire" for a third season.
FOX has renewed its hit drama "Empire" for a third season. The renewal is coming after Taraji P Henson's Golden Globes award win for her character "Cookie" on show.
Being the most-nominated television series this season with 35 nominations, the show was recently named a Top 10 Television Program of the Year by the American Film Institute.
The series also earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
Recently, a trailer was released for the second half of "Empire" titled "Revenge is Coming."
The trailer featured Hakeem pointing a gun at his father, Lucious and Cookie cuddling, a car exploding, a cozy Hakeem and Laura, and an emotional Andre.
The mid-season 2 finale was titled, “Et Tu, Brute?” meaning “Even you, Brutus?," gotten from William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, and used to refer to betrayal by a close friend or relative.
The episode ended with Lucious getting thrown out as CEO of Empire, after an unexpected betrayal by Mimi and Hakeem.
The other half of the show returns in March 2016.
