"Game of Thrones" breaks record, wins best drama series
With 38 Emmy wins, "Game of Thrones" has broken the record for the highest number of Emmy Awards won by any series.

The show won the award at the 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
It beat "The Americans," "Better Call Saul," "Downton Abbey," "Homeland," "House of Cards," and "Mr. Robot" to win the award.

The HBO series which was up for 24 awards, won a total of 12 at the Emmy awards, which held on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
"Game of Thrones" has now won a total of 38 Emmys, emerging as the show with the highest number of Emmy wins, beating "Frasier's previous record of 37.
The episode from season 6, “Battle of the Bastards,” won four awards for visual effects, editing, sound mixing, and makeup. It also won an Emmy for her costume designs on “The Winds of Winter.”

The 2016 Emmys was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, with winners including"Game of Thrones," "Veep," "The People v. O.J. Simpson," Rami Malek among others.
