The romcom took off in theatres with Wednesday and Thursday night sold-out preview screenings. The tally places The Wedding Party as the biggest opening weekend film of the year, ahead of A Trip to Jamaica and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Speaking about the achievement, Executive Producer & C.O.O FilmOne Distribution, Moses Babatope said "The Wedding Party is tracking to surpass all Box Office records including that of the impressive 'A Trip to Jamaica' particularly ahead of the Christmas and New Year's Holiday Season…”

‘The Wedding Party’ is an Elfike Film Collective production – a first of its kind initiative designed to raise the bar in African storytelling through unrivalled technical achievement in filmmaking and creative media arts. Elfike Film Collective is a collaboration of Africa’s leading powerhouses - EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios. It is the first time industry giants will partner on a film project and the impressive opening weekend grosses show that Collectives can grow and prosper the continent’s film community. The Elfike Collective has used this opportunity to thank all Nigerian moviegoers for helping to make history.

The Wedding Party has enjoyed tremendous support from Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism); Corporate and Social Nigeria. "The Wedding Party" benefits from the efforts of its apt cast as it is buoyed up by performances from both veterans and the younger actors. Sola Sobowale is most certainly the life of the movie and is at the top of her game playing the viewers favourite Tinuade Coker. Nobody else could bring this much life to this character as she did. A typical caring and protective Nigerian or particularly Yoruba mother, Sobowale nails the act’.

‘The Wedding Party gets an A for communication of both dialogue and nuances. It’s absolutely funny and informative all at the same time. But most importantly – and you can tell that this was the aim of its makers – The Wedding Party is entertaining’.

@OjoJamesOla ‘The Wedding Party is an awesome movie. Real world and comedic. I’m still laughing remembering the scenes.’
