Could Idris Elba Wear Mandela Role Gracefully?

There is just one Nelson Mandela and that's the one in South Africa whom the entire world is praying for at the moment to get well soon. But guess what? Hollywood is not sleeping. They can't just let The Great Madiba be. They keep creating a Mandela in every strong man.

This time, British actor, Idris Elba was the one! As though, he doesn't have enough on his plate already – talk about his new Sci-fi film, Pacific Rim, BBC1 series, Luther and a possibly first ever Black James Bond - he was called to play Nelson Mandela in the new flick, “Mandela:Long Walk To Freedom”.

From a recent chat with London's Independent, Idris described the job as the most challenging.

“You can't be serious!” were the first words that oozed from the actor's mouth. “To call the prospect of playing Nelson Mandela intimidating would be to put it lightly, but it's a massive honour to play this saint amongst men. I was honestly confused about why they came to me”.

He however acknowledged he neither looks nor sound like Madiba but hopefully he pulled the role off.

Critics are calling the challenge a brave one. yet wonder if the man in «Obsessed» can completely convince the world. Giving the fact that Mandela is presently lying sick on a hospital bed, and the film is yet to be released, what will the future be for the yet-to-be-released film?

Lets hope Idris Elba nailed it just like Oscar winner, Morgan Freeman did in “ Invictus”.
