Chris Rock, who would be hosting the 2016 Academy Awards, recently reacted to the lack of diversity following the 2016 Oscars nominations announcement.

The comedian took to his Twitter account to describe the awards as The White BET Awards."

Following the all white Oscars nominations, Rock has been advised to quit as host, but Golden Globes host, Ricky Gervais, has a different advise for him.

According to Gervais, rather than boycotting the show, Rock should be thinking "this shit is live. I can do some serious damage."

The 2016 nominations will mark the second year in a row in which no person of color was nominated in any of the four major acting categories.

The obvious lack of diversity led to the resurrection of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite, and some black actors threatening to boycott the awards ceremony.

Academy President, Cheryl Boone Isaacs reacted to the lack in diversity saying;"Of course I am disappointed, but [it is] not to take away the greatness (of the films nominated). This has been a great year in film, it really has across the board. You are never going to know what is going to appear on the sheet of paper until you see it. We have got to speed it up.”
