Nollywood actress, Belinda Effah, is full of gratitude to filmmaker, Emem Isong, who she claimed gave her the platform to have a chance at becoming part of the elite in the Nigerian movie industry.

Before her foot was firmly rooted, Effah was just an actress doing regular television series which she stated was not fulfilling.

In 2011, she met Emem Isong and her sister, Uduak Oguamanam.

This was the period her fortunes changed for the better after they featured her in the movie, "Udeme MMI".

She narrated this in an interview with Punch News, published on August 14, 2016.

“I have been in the industry since 2005. I participated in the Next Movie Star reality show and as of that time, I didn’t even know Emem and her sister. I only met them in 2011 and featuring in their movies changed the course of my career."

"Before I met them, I only used to feature in TV series and that wasn’t enough for me.  I took a break and came back with Tales of Eve in 2011."

"It was about that time that I met the Isong sisters and I starred in Udeme Me, an Emem Isong movie and Ufoma by Uduak Isong. I am thankful to both of them because those movies gave my acting career a different push.”

She however refuted claims that she was a favourite choice of the sisters due to her origins from Cross-River State.

The actress corrected this when she stated that the sisters are from Akwa Ibom.

“It is petty when people say I get many acting opportunities from them because we are both from the South-South. "

"They feature people from other regions in their movies. They have worked with Dakore Akande and of late, Adesua Etomi", she said.
