Movie crosses $500M global box office

'Ant Man' brought in $86.4M in China, after 12 days of release.

Marvel's superhero Ant-Man plays big for the silver screen

Marvel's has crossed the $500M worldwide box office mark.

The movie achieved hit the half a billion mark after grossing $86.4M in China, 12 days after release.

The movie which kicked off with a  $57m debut, has earned $179m in the domestic box office.

Ant-Man is also currently Walt Disney's fourth film to cross $500m worldwide in 2015.

Currently the ninth highest-grossing domestic film of the year, 'Ant Man' is the ninth Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to top $500m

Ant-Man is now the 22nd highest-grossing comic book movie of all time, ahead of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 3'00', and 'Thor.'

Directed by Peyton Reed, the movie starred Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll.

Earlier this month, Marvel announced an 'Ant-Man' sequel. China is the film’s top foreign market, followed by the UK, Korea, Mexico and France.
