AfricaMagic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCAs): Anticipation Heats Up As Events Set To Unfold.

Faster, faster, better, harder, more speed, almost there….eruption!

Climactic? Sure it is as the AfricaMagic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCAs) hits the country this weekend. With the best of African entertainment jousting for top honours, the ground is set for a carnival of entertainment never before seen on these shores.

Bigger, Better, Brighter…slowdown and wonder as the maiden edition of the awards get under way. Fierce voting had been seen, neck-to-neck polling contests have ran its course, worthy nominees have emerged and on Saturday, March 9, 2013, The Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island Lagos gets the nod as the venue for the crowning of Africa’s screen gods.

In the Beginning. Nominees, Awardees, and the invited will swagger down the carpets, fabled red ones complete with a sprinkling of fore-running hosts. Denrele Edun, alongside AfricaMagic hosts Helen Paul and Uti Nwachukwu (Jara), Dolapo Oni and Eku Edewor (53 Extra), Lawrence Maleka (StarGist) plus Nic Wang’ondu and Sarah Hassan (Mashariki Mix) form the welcoming party. Humour, class, and a dash of joie de vivre (francophone please!).

Enter the place. And there is all the charm and swag-nificence (google it) that the world can offer as Big Brother stage-man IK Osakioduwa and StarGist leading lady Vimbai Muntinhiri tango in co-host duties. Big brother, leading lady, and the magic of Africa…does it get better?

Coooouuurrrtttt! Slamming the gavel to declare winners, the judges come marching in. Unsmiling. Theirs is a friend-less business. Chief Judge Femi Odugbemi hands in the results and the verdicts are announced.

3, 2, 1…let the games begin. In they come, bearing gifts of awards won on merit, street credibility and charisma extraodinaire. Chinedu Ikedieze, Desmond Elliot, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Gideon Okeke, Genevieve Nnaji, Ireti Doyle, Jim Iyke, Joseph Benjamin, Lizz Njagah, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Osas Ighodaro, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke as well as Ghana’s Majid Michel. These stars will fall to you as they take the stage to present awards to winners.

Symphony...and in comes Femi Kuti, beng beng beng-ing, Dem bobo-ing, or bleeding his heart out with truth don die. Chai. Tiwa Savage gets the next nod, unleashing kele kele to bring on the romance.

Afterburn…and the party gets turned on.

Never before has this been seen, never have so much excitement been packed into just over 2 hours. It’s like Christmas all over again. On display will be the joy, song, love and essence of Africa.
