Everything you need to know about Idyl's journey on reality show

Idyl beat Jahtell, Ebube, Wow, J'Dess, Yimika, Syemca and Chris Rio to become winner of The Voice Nigeria season 2. Here's a recap of his journey on show.

Winning a record contract, an all expense-paid trip to Dubai and a 7 million naira SUV, Idyl also gave Timi Dakolo his first win on the show. Patoranking's team member Ebube took the second-place spot, while Symeca of Team Yemi Alade, came in third.

Idyl's journey on the show kicked off with his performance of  Bez's "Zuchiya Daya" during the blind auditions. The performance got him the first four turns of the night. He ended up choosing Timi Dakolo as his coach.

Idyl advanced to the next stage: The Battle Rounds, which saw him go up against fellow team member, Happiness Osassumwen. They performed "Love Me Now" by John Legend. Timi saved Idyl, ending Happiness' stay on the show.

He advanced to the next stage: The Live shows. For his 1st Live performance, he delivered with his take on Lucky Dube’s "Prisoner".

He failed to get a save from Timi, who saved Jahtell for her rendition of Etta James’s "Something Gat a Hold of Me."

Idyl was up for eviction alongside Kendris and Victor. He secured enough public votes to proceed to the Quarter Final.

For the Quarter Final, he performed a rendition of  Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You.'Once again, Timi saved Jahtell for her rendition of Jennifer Hudson's 'And I'm Telling You," leaving Idyl up for eviction alongside Bada and Precious.

Surprisingly, he secured enough votes to beat social media favourites Bada and Precious, to secure a spot in the semifinals.

For the semifinals, which had just him and Jahtell left on the team, Idyl performed a sombre rendition of Michael Bolton's classic 'Soul Provider."

On Sunday, September 24, 2017, Idyl surprisingly emerged the winner of the season, surpassing strong contenders such as Jahtell, Wow, J'Dess, Syemeca, Chris Rio, Yimika and Ebuka.

The Voice Nigeria season 2 premiered on June 18, 2017.
