Throwback to when 2face proposed to Annie Idibia

2face Idibia who at that time was an eligible bachelor shocked everyone when he asked Annie to be his wife.

On February 14, 2012 2face Idibia broke the Internet when he proposed to his then on/girlfriend and baby mama Annie Idibia (nee Macaulay).

Today is their wedding anniversary and we're looking back to when 2baba popped the question that changed his life four years ago.

The surprise proposal took place at the now defunct Club 10 owned by ex-Super Eagles play maker Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.

When 2face Idibia went down on bended knee everyone including Annie were more than shocked.

From one of the pictures (below) we can see Annie Idibia crying on 2face’s shoulder. That was how shocked she was. According to an unconfirmed report Annie Idibia was so moved by 2face’s proposal that she didn't give him an answer until the next day.

The proposal was the perfect love story and everyone in the industry congratulated 2face and Annie on their engagement.

To get a proper understanding about the proposal we have to go back to the late 90’s when 2face was a lanky member of the R&B group Plantashun Boyz.

Annie and 2face’s first met at Even Ezra studios. She was 15 and 2face was 24.

“The moment our eyes met at Even Ezra Studios many years ago, I knew you were the one for me and I for you. Innocent is an extraordinary being. It really seems like yesterday, (can’t believe he is 40 already) he was 24 and I was 15. And I still see the same man when I look at him. So full of life. So much energy. He is always so optimistic about life” revealed Annie Idibia in ‘’, a 2face Idibia biography.

“I remember many evenings he would walk me from 201 in FESTAC to the major road outside FESTAC, the road was so wide and scary to cross that he would have to hold my hands and we would run across the road together! Once I got in the bus going to CMS he would wait till it was full and wave at me till the bus was out of his sight” she further said.

Years after falling in love with him, Annie’s love relationship with 2face was forever immortalized in the 2004 music video ‘African Queen’ by 2face Idibia when he started in his solo career. The video will always be used as a reference point in their love story.

After the release of his debut album ‘’ in the same year 2 face’s solo career catapulted to unparalleled heights. With a new brand of fame 2face and Annie’s relationship became shaky.

From then on 2face would go on to have numerous kids with his lovers Sunmbo Ajaba Adeoye, Pero Adeniyi and Annie Idibia.

2 Baba’s relationships with numerous women gave him the unwanted image of a Casanova and playboy. The rep didn’t leave him until that day he proposed to Annie Idibia.

On May 2, 2012 2face married Annie at a private ceremony. After the traditional wedding on March 8, 2013 the couple had a fairy tale wedding in Dubai on Saturday, March 23, 2013 attended by virtually every Nigerian celebrity.

On January 3, 2014 Annie Idibia gave birth to Olivia Idibia her second daughter for 2face Idibia.

While their marriage has had a few bumps, Annie and 2face are still very much in love and enjoying their marriage.
