Taylor Swift will join Idris Elba as co-chairs at the 2016 Met Gala to hold in NYC on May 2
The prestigious annual fashion event, whose theme for this year is 'Technology and it's impact on fashion,' will also have other co-chairs such as Anna Wintour, Vogue editor, Apple's chief design officer Jonathan Ive and designers Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquiere and Miuccia Prada.
In keeping with the technological theme, Apple is helping fund the 2016 gala, which according to a press release, “will explore the impact of new technology on fashion and how designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear.”
Among the designers whose work will be featured in the accompanying exhibition, 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,' are Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and Christopher Bailey.
Jennifer Lawrence co-chaired the 2015 Met Gala while Swift was a guest at last year’s festivities, along with Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Beyonce and Jay Z, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and George Clooney, to name just a few.
The 2016 Met Gala is scheduled to hold on May 2 at the Metropolitan Musuem of Art in NYC
