Reports claimed that during the hearing to discuss Knight's bail on murder and other charges, the former rapper’s left shoulder was twitching and he appeared tensed up.
Former rap mogul collapses in court as bail is set at $25m
On Friday, March 20, 2015 morning, former rap mogul, Marion 'Suge' Knight collapsed in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom moments after his bail was set at $25 million.
Knight's attorney, Matthew Fletcher confirmed this to the media saying, 'the Los Angeles Fire Department officials wheeled a gurney into the courtroom and assisted Knight, who was unconscious.'
In his words, "Just, bam. He's unconscious right now."
Though Knight's condition was not immediately known after he collapsed, the Deputy District Attorney, Cynthia J. Barnes said she believed Knight 'did it in front of the cameras.'
While Knight's attorney argued for a lower bail amount, saying Knight was not a flight risk because he was recognizable, the Deputy District Attorney believes otherwise saying $25m bail was high enough for the man, who seemed 'above the law.'
In fletcher's words, “If his name wasn’t Suge Knight, they wouldn’t have filed this case.”
Barnes further noted that at the time of Carter’s death, Knight was out on bail in the case of an alleged robbery. and that not only did he disregard the constraints of bail, he escalated his criminal behavior to murder and attempted murder.
Knight is currently accused of deliberately running over Terry Carter, 55, and Cle “Bone” Sloan, 51, in a restaurant parking lot on January 29, 2015 following an argument on the set for a commercial about the film “Straight Outta Compton.” Carter died.
