International afrobeat recording act Seun Kuti has revealed the reason why he would forgive General Muhammadu Buhari for trampling on the rights of his family.

In an interview with The Nation newspaper, Seun Kuti said he won't be voting in this year's general elections, but is happy that Nigerians want to be involved in the democratic process of choosing a leader.

He further went on to say he isn't supporting the APC Presidential aspirant General Muhammadu Buhari because he is not in the good books of his family.

Seun Kuti however stated that if Buhari becomes president, he will forgive him if his government is oriented towards the masses.

"Maybe if Buhari wins and becomes president, then I can forgive him if he begins to do to Nigerians what Fela would have liked for Nigerians because maybe if Buhari becomes president and he suddenly becomes pro-people, developing Nigeria from the ground-up, things that I know would have made my father happy, and he is bring Nigeria up yeah" he said.

"Definitely, I would understand that even if Fela were alive and Fela sees Nigeria going forward like this, he would speak in favour of the man" he further said.

He also stated that he understands the desire for Nigerians to vote against the current government, calling it protest votes.

"I’m happy that so many people in Nigeria today want to be involved in the democratic process of this country. It is a big development in our democratic development" he said.

And so many people want to also cast protest votes this year protest against how the country has been run by the present administration and I understand" he said.
