The actor announced the passing of his father, James C. Reynolds on Wednesday, October 29 - after battling with Parkinson's diseases for nealry 20 years.

Ryan Reynolds' dad is dead!

The actor announced the passing of his father, James C. Reynolds on Wednesday, October 29. He suffered from Parkinson's diseases for 20 years.

In a tweet to fans, the 39-year-old 'Green Lantern' star asked that people donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which raises money to research a cure for the degenerative disorder that affects the body's motor system.

The actor previously spoke about his dad's battle with the disorder on Today, saying, "My father really hasn't ever said he has Parkinson's disease. He comes from a pretty prideful generation and he doesn't really talk about it too much. But he’s maybe said it once or twice out loud."

Ryan, who's married to actress first became involved with Michael J. Fox's foundation in 2008 and is now on its board of directors.
