Last month Chocolate City Kenya act Victoria Kimani ranted on Twitter about the lack of support Kenyan celebrities get from the youth of the country.

Her Twitter rant created a backlash for Victoria Kimani from Kenyans. Pulse TV caught up with the 'Show' singer at DJ Cuppy's tour in Lagos on August 1, and she spoke about the incident.

"I did a little research study on the percentage of youth in Africa that really appreciate music, and I think Nigeria had 72 percent of the youth that were interested in music which is huge because there's like 170, 200 hundred million people in Nigeria. I think Tanzania had 93 percent of the youth interested in music. And in Kenya it was only 55 percent of the youth which is very low. And for someone like me it made me just very passionate and started making me think about Lupita and everyone of us who have had to travel out of Kenya to have a career in the arts whether its acting, music or fashion" said Victoria Kimani to Pulse TV.

The apparent lack of support made her rant against her countrymen. "I started venting about it and it just went crazy. It is expected. The 45 percent that are not interested in music responded to me that day" she said.

Kimani disclosed that the incident was a blessing in disguise. "I also got a huge following from that. Two days later I dropped my video and it went viral and it trended. So it's a blessing and curse when you have a voice."
