Linda Ikeji’s enemies won’t let her rest

Popular blogger Linda Ikeji gets no love these days because she has a penchant for showing off how successful she is.

Linda Ikeji

On Thursday, June 23, 2016, Linda Ikeji exclusively told Pulse that the story was not true. “Firs go after companies not individuals. And I was operating as an individual. And the Banana house is mine 1000%..lol. Proudly mine and I would never deny it” she told Pulse. Later in the day she would go on to make the same statement on her Instagram page.

When the false story came about Linda Ikeji she quickly became a trending topic. Twitter had it in for her as they mocked her imaginary tax troubles and her false denial of her Banana Island mansion. She was dragged and made fun of.

Linda Ikeji has always been an interesting figure of sorts in the Nigerian entertainment scene but this year has made her very controversial. From her Banana Island mansion, Birkin bag episode and beef with Wizkid have made her controversial in some quarters.

The public scrutiny she has gotten this year has been more than what she has gotten in the last two years. There are lots of people who are not caught up in her hype. The question is why a successful and independent woman would generate a lot of hate from people?

I think the hate Linda Ikeji gets from some people has to do with the fact that she does not hide the fact that she is successful. Every time Linda Ikeji buys a new car she puts it up on her blog. When she got her Banana Island mansion she made it known and when the whole Hermes Birkin saga she stoutly defended that she could afford them.

Nigerian people do not like showoffs especially when it comes to wealth. Linda Ikeji doesn’t feel bad about telling the whole world that she is money. Coupled with the fact that she is an unmarried woman makes her detractors even more angry. Linda Ikeji flaunting her house and cars goes against the grain of a typical Nigerian and his mindset about not showing off.

Linda Ikeji’s enemies won’t stop taking shots at her. When you are in successful in life it is only natural that envy follows. The fact that she is an independent woman will make the hate greater.
