Pulse Opinion A secret marriage for D’banj makes sense

People should stop pressurizing D'banj on when he will be settling down.

I am pretty sure that at this point D’banj is sick and tired of answering questions about his love life and marriage plans.

In a recent interview with daily newspaper Punch he was asked again about when he will begetting married. “Who said I am not married? I would tell you the truth, I am not married but if I am, nobody would hear about it.

“It is going to be a very quiet wedding because I am tired of people asking me that question. It is my personal life and it is not going to change my music or brand” said D’banj. You see why I said he is tired of the same old question.

I agree with D’banj. The best route for D’banj is to have a secret wedding because of all the media hoopla around his relationship and love life. There has been drama around his relationships with Genevieve Nnaji, Bonang Matheba and Adama Indimi that tying the knot secretly is the best option for him.

A public wedding for D’banj would affect his female fan base which is the core of his fans. A single D’banj is more attractive to chicks than a married D’banj. The singer can argue about this but it is a fact. Usher’s career took a blow when he was married, when he got divorced his career bounced back.

I am not saying male celebrities shouldn't get married but if they make a public spectacle of it they should take into account their female fans. Justin Timberlake has a hot wife and his ladies still love him. Some other male stars might not be that lucky.

Also a public wedding will be too much of scrutiny for D’banj. His love life is a hot topic for the Nigerian press. Till today we are still talking about his brief relationship with D’banj. His relationship with billionaire heiress Adama Indimi was on the blogs for months. From his interview with Punch you can deduce that he wants his marriage, whenever it happens, to be very private. I can’t blame him for that. He just wants to separate his love life from his music career.

The constant pressure on D’banj to get married shows that men also feel the heat when it comes to get married too. It’s not a male or female thing but a human thing.
