We all know how influential celebrities can be when they make statements or call out the government.
Yes, some of these celebrities have made bold statements against President Muhammadu Buhari, some clamouring for him not to run in the next elections while others are just disappointed with the way things are being done in the country. Here are a couple of the bold celebrities who have called out Buhari.
1. Charly Boy
For a very long time, Charly Boy has always been known to be an activist who has remained fearless towards any government. The music veteran who is also known as "Area Father" in 2017, called out President Muhammadu Buhari over the operations of the military in the southeastern part of the country. It would be recalled that a military task force, also known as “Operation Python Dance II'' was set up by the government to curb the activities of the group, IPOB who were clamouring for a separate nation. Charly boy wrote an open letter to the president where he warned the government not to escalate tension in an already fragile region of the country.
In the case of the singer, Skales, he was very forward with his comments towards the president. Skales who could not hide his disdain for the present situation in Nigeria took to his Twitter page on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, where he called out Mr President.
"Buhari is the worst president in the world yes I said it ....this human abuse has to stop ...u lied to us wen I wanted to be voted in ...shame !!! I love my country and I want the best for my country," he tweeted.
Skales' comment appeared to be based on the recent accusations levelled against men of the Special Anti RobberySquad (SARS) which have come under serious fire for their alleged roles in beating up and illegally arresting innocent Nigerians.
3. I Go Dye
For the veteran comedian, I Go Dye, his own views about President Buhari was that the president shouldn't bother running for the presidency in 2019. According to I Go Dye, Buhari has been in government since his youth and have enjoyed a lot of privileges from the country. I Go Dye thinks it is high time the country gets to be run by the youths because age is not on his side.
4. Yul Edochie
Just like I Go Dye, actor turned politician, Yul Edochie has also called out president Buhari and prayed that he recedes his aspiration to run again for office. Yul who released a video on his Instagram page made a passionate plea to the president to allow a younger person to take up the challenges currently facing the country.
"I hear you want to run for the second time in office I decided to do this video, please sir don't bother. I don't think Nigeria, Nigerians can endure four or more years of whats going on right now. Believe its really terrible, the hardship is too much," Yul said.
