3. Tiwa Savage

In 2016, there was no story that was bigger than Tiwa Savage. First came her highly publicised breakup with estranged husband, Tee Billz.

Tee Billz blasted his wife Tiwa Savage on his Instagram page and also accused her of having sexual relations with her label mates Dr Sid, Don Jazzy and Nigerian pop legend 2face Idibia.

Tiwa Savage in an interview exclusively gotten by Pulse spoke explicitly about her damaged marriage with Tee Billz.

Note: The video would go down in Nigerian history as one of the fastest watched videos on YouTube.

In the video, she spoke about Tee Billz's infidelity, his alleged stealing of her money, alleged cocaine use amongst other things.

4. Yemi Alade

Yemi Alade lived up to her name, Mama Africa, this year! From Tanzania to Cameroon and South Africa,  she was everywhere.

The singer has had an amazing year 2016, which has earned her awards - winning Best Female Act at MAMA 2016, edging out Tiwa Savage and others.

She is also up for nomination at this year's Headies, being nominated for Artiste of the Year, alongside Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Wizkid and Falz.

5. Toyin Aimakhu

It's undeniable Toyin Aimakhu was part of our biggest celebrities of the year.

First it started with her marriage scandal with estranged husband, Adeniyi Johnson then her highly publicised breakup with Seun Egbegbe.

Let's not forget the late Mayowa Ahmed fund raising saga.

Moved by late ovarian cancer patient, Ahmed Mayowa Shukurat's story, actress Toyin Aimakhu visited Mayowa and helped solicit funds on her behalf.

When reports emerged suggesting that the campaign was orchestrated by Ahmed Mayowa Shukurat's family to deceive Nigerians, Toyin Aimakhu stormed LUTH with police officers and that lead to another lengthy social media onslaught.

First, it started with her misconstrued advice to single young ladies, then her releasing a tell-all book, “On Becoming”, where she talks about getting a sexually transmitted disease from her husband, her husband’s mistress and her failed marriage.

7. Freeze

Surprisingly this year was the year of Freeze! The media personality has been in the news for different controversies this year alone.

He was rumoured to have been sacked by the management of Cool FM following his public feud with Basketmouth which he tagged malicious.

The media personality has since been hogging the headlines with his unfiltered comments on politics, religion, love and marriage.

He also owns a blog where he posts his opinions on the burning topic of the day and is commonly known as a social critic.
