Singer's action figure on sale for over N3.8m

A Japanese artist has created an action figure of Pharrell Williams, which he is selling for £13,000 (N3,827,038).

The artist, who goes by the name Mr., is a protege of popular painter Takashi Murakami. The figurine was unveiled at the Hong Kong edition of the Art Basel art showcase. The figure sees Williams wearing the hat that he wore to the 2014 Grammy Awards, which has since become a signature item of clothing for the musician. It was also modelled on Pharrell Williams' outfit as featured in his 'IT Girl' video.Art News report that "several" of the items have been sold to international buyers.Last week it was reported that a US jury decided that 'Blurred Lines' copied Marvin Gaye's single 'Got To Give It Up'. Williams and Robin Thicke must now pay $7.3m (£4.8m) to Gaye's family following the ruling at the US District Court in Los Angeles. The lawsuit was brought by Gaye's children Nona, Frankie and Marvin Gaye III, who inherited the copyright to the soul legend's music following his death in 1984. The pair are set to appeal the trial verdict, with a lawyer working for both artists saying that they "owe it to songwriters around the world".
