Paralympic Star freed on parole 304 days after being jailed

As a devout Christian, the South African sprint runner’s faith has greatly deepened in God over the past few months in prison and he must be accompanied on trips to attend mass fitted with an electronic tag.

The athlete was sentenced to five years for the death of his girlfriend However, he may not remain free indefinitely as his case is still subject to a Supreme Court appeal. If the appeal is successful, he could be facing a murder conviction and a minimum jail term of 15 years.

In a letter to the parole board by the family of Ms Steenkamp's says.

"10 months for taking a life is simply not enough."

"We have forgiven Mr Pistorius even though he took the life of our precious daughter, Reeva," the letter said.

"Our lives will never be the same as we live with the sadness of her death every day. Reeva had so much to offer this world and we were all robbed of her life when she was killed."
