The screenplay write for the iconic movie, 'E.T' (Extra Terrestrial), has died.

Melissa Mathison died on Wednesday, November 4 in Los Angles  after an illness. She was 65.

The film-maker coined the phrase "E.T. phone home" for the 1982 classic. She was also married to Hollywood actor Harrison Ford for more than 20 years and had two children together - Malcom and Georgia.

Melissa also wrote screenplays for blockbusters like 'The Black Stallion,' 'The Indian In The Cupboard,' and 'The Escape Artist.' She will likely have one more hit with 'E.T.' director Steven Spielberg.

She wrote the highly anticipated family fantasy 'The BFG' ... which comes out in 2016!
