It comes as no surprise that Mariah Carey would want to secure her God-given gift by insuring her vocal chords for $35 million.
According to TMZ, the 46-year-old songstress has also taken out the same pricey protection plan for her lean legs, which she often flaunts on the stage.
The 'We Belong Together' hit-maker is famed for her perfectly toned pins, and was named "Leg’s Of A Goddess" by Gillette in 2006 as she fronted their campaigns. The star was even presented with a 16-foot high likeness of her perfect pins and judged a competition to find the most perfect legs in America. At the time of the campaign it was alleged that she'd insured her legs for £1billion.
Meanwhile, Mariah's vocal chords are also instantly recognisable for her impressive range that spans five octaves. In 1998, she explained that her ability to hit so many notes was the result of nodules on her vocal cords - which usually decreases a singer's range.
"A lot of people couldn’t sing through the nodules the way I do. I’ve learned to sing through my vocal cords. It’s a certain part of the cord that not many people use - the very top," she explained.
