Diva denies singing hate song about Nick Cannon

Mariah says 'Infinity' is for everyone and not about her current relationship situation with Nick

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Unlike what many thought about Mariah Carey's latest song, 'Infinity' to be about her ex, Nick Cannon, the diva has come out to say the track isn't necessarily about her current romantic situation.

Mariah told Access Hollywood's Liz Hernandez in a new interview celebrating the singer's upcoming residency show in Las Vegas that the song is for everyone.

"I don't feel like it's my personal life. It's written for all the women, or men, or whoever's gone through any type of relationship," Mariah said. Adding, "I'm looking at it as the mantra of 'Infinity' is love yourself… loving yourself first to infinity. Then you can love anybody or anything else – your career, your kids, your life.''

Mariah's 'Infinity' lyrics sparked controversy earlier this week when she sang:

Leave behind another man for me

Is it lack of ice got you so cold?Have you ever felt this on your own?Why you tryin' to play like you’re so grown?Everything you own boy you still owe

And, even if the song was about Nick, she admits she'd keep that information to herself. "I tend to be more private about my personal life anyway, so even if the song were about someone in particular, I would never say that, because that would be like my own private thought. We had a bunch of collaborator on that song too." She explained.
