Is NBA star to serve as scape goat over drug charges?

Odom is now reportedly facing prosecutors who may file cocaine possession charges against him, but if they do, it could be a first for the D.A., which raises some disturbing questions.

Is a memoire on Lamar Odom coming soon?

NBA star, Lamar Odom, definitely has a lot on his plate as he recovers from his brush with death, and now has to deal with drug charges.

Nye County D.A., Angela Bello says her office is considering filing criminal charges against Lamar, either possession of coke or being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Following reports by TMZ, background checks revealed that there has been no case in Nye County where someone OD’d, landed in the hospital, and was prosecuted for drug possession.

An official from the Nye County Sheriff’s office says they have definitely referred such cases to the D.A., but the official does not know of any cases that have actually been prosecuted.

All these speculations only raise more questions, especially with the fact that Odom is unable to walk, can barely speak and has substantially impaired cognitive function.

Odom at this point, may not even be competent to stand trial before any court of law.

A rep in the D.A.’s office says, “He’s not being treated any differently because he’s a celebrity. He’s being treated just like any other Joe Schmo.”

Even with these assurances, we cant help but wonder why Odom's case is so different from others who have OD'd and walk away without being prosecuted.
