Katy Perry says her new songs from her forthcoming album could be about her failed marriage to British comedian Russell Brand.

The singer revealed to Daily Telegraph that the last time she communicated with Brand was two years ago when he texted her about their divorce.

''He hasn’t spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce. I don’t want to talk about him — my songs will say what I need to say.''

The former couple tied the knot in 2010, but the divorce hasn’t turned her off to love.

''No, absolutely not,'' Katysaid. ''I’m excited by whatever it brings. I’m excited by my own evolution. I don’t want to end up bittersweet. I have to evolve, I have to continue to push people’s perceptions of me. As an artist I like to do that, keep people on the edge of their seats.''

And about the cat that Katyand Russellgot together and named Rusty in combination of both of their names – she still had the cat. “I still have the cat. But I’ve changed her name to Monkey,” Katyadded.
