The former Eagles member believe Kanye West and Frank Ocean talentless, ignorant and incredibly arrogant!
During his recent interview with The Guardian, Henley discussed on West's run for presidency in 2020 and Frank Ocean's sampling of his music.
The rock star slammed Ocean over his 2011 mixtape, 'Nostalgia Ultra' (which was a sample of the Eagle's classic 'Hotel California'). "You can’t rewrite the lyrics to somebody else’s songs, record it and put it on the Internet," Henley criticized the move in 2014. Then in 2015, Henley hasn't had a change of heart.
Henley ripped into Ocean, calling the singer a "talentless little prick.". He added that, "Some of these young kids have grown up in a world that doesn’t understand or respect copyright material or intellectual property. They look at songs as interactive playthings. I didn’t think he was cool. I thought he was a talentless little prick. And I still do."
When asked if he would be okay with someone like Kanye West sampling his music, he felt the same way. "No, I’d be just as pissed off,” he said. “I don’t like him, either."
Henley also said West wouldn't become president after Kanye declared his intentions to run for president during the 2015 MTV Music Video Awards in Los Angeles. "He won’t be president,” Henley said. “He’s either incredibly arrogant or incredibly insecure or some combination of the two," he added.
