'I have 9 years before hitting menopause' actress reveals

Halima Abubakar in a recent interview clears the air surrounding her bold 'virginity' statement.

“Why would people become annoyed because I said I am a virgin?" she asked, adding, "Just because I’m in the industry does not mean I am badly behaved. Not everyone is sexually active. You can have a boyfriend and not be sexually active. The reaction I got shows the mentality of the people. If I say I’m a virgin, I am and if I say I am not, then I am not. They tell me to go get married, should I go after  someone else’s  husband?”

According to her, "Everybody thinks one should get married from age 18. A lot of marriages are complicated. Marriage will come when it will come, one doesnt need to force it. People are getting divorced with pregnancies because they got married under pressure. We should let people be. People are saying if you are not getting married, go and get kids because menopause is approaching. What kind of thing is that? Is it your menopause?  I still have about nine years before I hit menopause all things being equal. I am not one of those people that will kill themselves because of marriage. I can’t have kids outside marriage.”

Meanwhile, Halima herself has revealed she is not concerned about critics negative comments. On Saturday, July 20, 2016, the "Men In Love" actress disclosed that she just doesn't care about what critics say.

“People always comment on most of my posts. You know Nigerians like to criticise whether they understand the language or not."

"I just want to believe that they just want to talk. I don’t want to talk about my post where I said that I was a virgin and couldn’t wait to have children. I posted what I wanted and that was it. I have been getting negative comments from people for over 13 years; I think my body is used to it by now.

Negative comments do not move me at all and I do not even have emotional feelings towards such."

According to her, the media might twist her words to imply what she did not intend to say.
