Just a week ago, the two celebrated their first wedding anniversary on December 15, and are said to be 'extremely excited' at the prospect of becoming first-time parents.

The Sun report Eddie and his wife 'are delighted and extremely excited. They don't want to find out the sex of the baby but are happy to tell close friends and family they are expecting.'

Eddie has enjoyed a life-changing year, marrying Hannah two months before winning his first Oscar for his acclaimed portrayal in the Stephen Hawking biopic, The Theory of Everything in2014.

Eddie has also been busy shooting Harry Potter spin-off: Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them in recent weeks, recently wrapping the production.

The couple started dating in 2012 and tied the knot at Babingtn house in Somerset in December 2014.

In an interview with People magazine, Eddie said about his wife 'I think saint might be the word. She is an absolute saint. And it's a ride for both of us. It's wonderful doing it with someone you love because you also have a second eye on it all. This whole industry is the most joyous, absurd circus.

'It's great to have someone when you get too immersed in it or drinking the Kool-Aid to say, "Wait a second"?'

The new year seems to be promising for excited Eddie and Hannah as it looks like it will be another big awards season with a baby on the way and multiple nominations for his role in “The Danish Girl”.
