Jimmy Kimmel got upset when Trump backed out of appearing on his TV show only hours before he was due to tape his segment on the October 20 episode.
Donald Trump, 69 is receiving some heat from late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, 47, after the presidential candidate cancelled his appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' at the last minute.
Jimmy Kimmel was obviously upset when Trump backed out of appearing on his TV show only hours before he was due to tape his segment on the October 20 episode. The late night host actually went on a tirade against the Republican presidential candidate and let loose with some hilarious jokes.
"You know Donald Trump was supposed to be here tonight — but last night, his people called and canceled on us," Jimmy said in his opening monologue. "They were a little bit cryptic about why he canceled. They said ‘he has a major political commitment, but he did want me to relay the message to you that — if he was here, he would have been great.'"
“I’m dying to find out what this major political commitment was. Usually, it means he has to go on CNN to call someone an idiot, or something. Why did he cancel? We told him there were cameras here, right? Are Tuesday nights the night he volunteers down at the orphanage? But don’t worry, we’re giving everyone in our audience a basketball dipped in cologne — so you can fully experience what it would have been like if he was here. The good news of Donald not being here tonight is, now we don’t have to build a wall around Guillermo," Jimmy joked, before adding.
In a statement to CNN on Oct. 20, Trump's spokeswoman said the GOP candidate abruptly pulled out of his scheduled appearance due to a “political obligation,", adding that "Mr. Trump is rescheduling his appearance and looks forward to being on the show in the next few weeks."
Unfortunately, that wasn’t good enough for the late-night host, who used the last-minute ditch as ammo for his live segment.
