David Oyelowo has landed a role in "Arc of Justice," a movie based on the high-ranking Ossian Sweet civil rights cases.

The historic movie is based on the 2004 book by Kevin Boyle, “Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age.”

The book follows the true story of the grandson of a slave, Dr. Ossian Sweet, who moved his family to an all-white Detroit neighborhood in 1925.

When his neighbors attempted to drive him out, Sweet defended himself - resulting in the death of a white man and a murder trial for Sweet.

This kicked off one of the most important cases in Civil Rights history.
