Rock singer dies at 69

Legendary songwriter and singer, David Robert Jones aka David Bowie is dead.

He died at the age of 69, after battling with cancer for 18 months.

Hollywood Reporters reports that the family, on Bowie's social media page, said "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."

His hits include Let’s Dance, Space Oddity Heroes, Changes, and a host of others.

He also starred in movies like Just a Gigolo, The Last Temptation of Christ etc.

He also made history as the first rock star to go into the technology space, when he launched BowieNet in 1998 September.

One interesting controversy that will not leave our minds so quickly, is the declaration by Bowie that he was Gay.

Industry observers said it was a move to boost his album sales.
