Malcome Ausbon sued Brown claiming the singer and three other gave him the beating of h9is life in the middle of a B-ball game in Los Angeles in 2014.
Chris' legal rep, Mark Geragos had received a letter from Malcome's attorney threatening to go to the police if Brown didn't dish out $250,000.
Geragos called the request extortion and claimed his client wasn't guilty of the crime.
Latest reports now claim Malcome has finally been paid but way less than what he asked for. The exact amount is been sealed under terms of the settlement.
Sources connected to the situation described the settlement as a 'nuisance payment' and claim is just to make the dude leave Brown alone.
As for why Chris paid such a low number -- best guess is Ausbon lost all bargaining power when he arguably blackmailed Chris, reports TMZ.
