Celine Dion makes audience cry during moving performance for Paris victims at 2015 AMA

Celine Dion brought the AMAs audience to tears with a moving tribute to victims of the recent Paris deadly terrorist attacks.

The 47-year-old singer took a break from her Las Vegas residency to perform live at the American Music Awards on November 22; singing a version of legendary French singer Edith Piaf‘s 1949 'Hymne a L’Amour,' as images of the French capital — including the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower — were projected on a screen behind her. Piaf wrote the love song shortly after her lover was killed in a tragic plane crash.

The emotional performance was a sharp turn to an otherwise uplifting night of music, but paid a wonderful tribute to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of November 13.

Looking somber yet beautiful, Celine wore a black halter gown that was belted and the waist and had a full skirt with bold flowers along the bottom. With her golden hair in waves across her shoulders, she poured her heart and soul into the song and her powerful voice was filled with so much emotion!

Even though the lyrics were in French, everyone in the audience could feel their heart-strings tug as the camera panned away several times to faces in the crowd with tears streaming from their eyes. When the song ended Celine received a loud standing ovation.
