Comedian's wife defends him, says "he is the man you thought you knew"

Camille Cosby has rise in staunch defence of husband Bill Cosby following the series of rape allegations that have trailed him in the last few months.

Camille Cosby spoke in staunch defence of her husband describing him as a kind, generous man and loving husband very much unlike the man who has been portrayed in the media in the last few months.

In her words:

"He is a kind man, a generous man, a funny man, and a wonderful husband, father and friend. He is the man you thought you knew. A different man has been portrayed in the media over the last two months. It is the portrait of a man I do not know."

She expressed regret over the manner in which the media has been quick to cast aspersions on her husband saying:

"It is also the portrait painted by individuals and organizations whom many in the media have given a pass. We all followed the story of the article in the "Rolling Stone" concerning allegations of rape at the University of Virginia. The story was heart-breaking but ultimately appears to be proved to be untrue. Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband."

She finally ended by asking who the victim really is in all of this:

"None of us will ever want to be in the position of attacking the victim. But the question should be asked -- who is the victim?"

Bill and Camille have been married for 50 years and have 5 children together. In the last few months, the hugely successful comedian has faced a series of rape allegations from no fewer than 19 women.

Although no legal charges had been levelled against the Cosby Show actor, Judy Huth took legal action against Cosby a few weeks ago claiming he assaulted her when she was 15 years old.
