We are still screening 111,981 withheld results- JAMB

JAMB spokesman says he is not sure when the results of the affected candidates will be released.

The Board's Head of Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin in an interview with Punch said that the exam body would communicate its findings on the results at the appropriate time.

Following the release of over 1.5 million resultson Tuesday, March 20, 2018, JAMB had said the results of 111,981 candidates who sat for the 2018 UTME were withheld for “further screening”

Benjamin said, “after viewing all CCTV footages during the conduct of the 2018 UTME and considering reports from our supervisors, monitors and other independent Nigerians, JAMB has released the results of 1,502,978 candidates.

''Also, 112,331 results have yet to be released out of which 350 are the results of visually impaired candidates which will be released soon and 111,981 results withheld for further screening. The figure above excludes foreign candidates whose examination will be conducted in April,”

Why the results were withheld

Explaining reasons why the results were withheld, Benjamin told newsmen on Thursday, March 22, 2018, that some candidates attempted to change computer IP addresses while others smuggled banned items into the exam hall.

The JAMB's spokesman also said some CBT centre operators colluded with candidates, collected money from them and dictated answers to them during the exam.
