The move to remove Dr Adenike Ogunshe was halted pending the outcome of a suit, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

NAN reports that Ogunshe who was a lecturer in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, is challenging the termination of her appointment by the institution and its council over alleged misconduct.

According to the reports, the claimant was earlier ordered to vacate her quarters on the campus.

NAN reports that Ogunshe's counsel, Mr Femi Aborisade, urged the court to stop the varsity officials from carrying out the order.

Presiding over the case, Justice Firstina Kola-Olalere, granted the motion and instructed the university to refrain from ejecting the claimant from her official residence.

The case was, however, adjourned until Jan. 19, 2017 for hearing.

The court earlier heard that Ogunshe's appointment was wrongfully terminated and that due process had not been followed before the termination.

Aborisade stated that the termination was 'unconstitutional, unlawful and a violation of her constitutionally guaranteed right to life, natural justice and fair hearing.'

The counsel prayed the court to set aside the claimed termination and reinstate Ogunshe to her position, without any loss of earnings, salaries and allowances.

Aborisade also urged the court to charge the respondents N8 million for general damages, for not giving the fair three months’ notice before the termination of the claimant's appointment.
