Athletes to win N2m, cars in 21km University of Ilorin Marathon
UNILORIN in partnership with SCCL will host a 21km University of Ilorin Marathon in October to mark its 40th year anniversary with athletes expected to win cars and millions of naira in cash.
Organized to mark the 40th year anniversary of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) the 21-kilometre marathon is being staged in partnership with the Sovereign Campus Concept Limited (SCCL).
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof AbdulGaniyu Ambali, on Monday unveiled the logo of the competition and the theme ‘celebrating academic stability’.
Represented by the Chairman, University of Ilorin Sports Council, Prof Uche Bassey Eke, Ambali thanked SCCL for their interest in empowering the students and promoting the institution’s image.
Students and members of staff of the university and invited athletes from seven tertiary institutions in Kwara state; Kwara State University, Kwara Polytechnic, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Colleges of Education, Ilorin, Oro and Lafiagi, as well as Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, will participate in the event.
The marathon will be part of UNILORIN's 31st convocation ceremony.
