UNILAG launches first campus Television
Prof Ralph Akinfeleye said UNILAG is the first to be granted a license to operate a campus television station in West Africa.
The University according to the Chairman of UNILAG Radio and TV, Prof Ralph Akinfeleye is the first to be granted a license to operate a campus television station in West Africa.
He said the license was granted on Thursday, November 2017.
Corroborating Akinfeleye, an official of the institution, Akhabue Osezua said the UNILAG TV was commissioned on Saturday, November 11.
Akhabue also said the campus station will start operation in earnest as the University has already recruited staff members for the TV section.
He added that students who have interest in working for the television station can also volunteer.
Unlike the University Radio station, Akhabue said the Campus TV is a commercial Television station and not a community media outlet.
Speaking at the commissioning of the campus TV station, Prof. Rahamon Bello (now former Vice-Chancellor) said he was happy and fulfilled that the television station started operation under his watch.
He, therefore, praised the University management, members of staff, students and the entire university community on the milestone.
